We are offering a training through Birth Arts International. Birth Arts International was originally founded in 2000 by Demetria Clark as the Green Mountain Doula Guild. Since then the organization has expanded and grown into Birth Arts International. They have gone from a regional body to one that is working internationally, offering extensive doula, postpartum doula, childbirth educator, midwifery assistant and advanced doula trainings.
Birth Arts International has trained over 6000 birthworkers worldwide, and that number continues to grow year after year.
Our training will be held in beautiful Malibu. The training will be two days long, held over a weekend.

As part of the weekend workshop, you will receive the Birth Arts Postpartum Doula training manual which contains a list of certification requirements, study guide, reading list, projects to be completed, up to date information, resources list and more. Here is a list of requirements, which are all listed in the manual that you will receive at the weekend workshop.
1. All writing activities listed in the manual.
2. Read six books from the required list and write six book reports (approximately 1 page) on each book.
3. Hospital & Birthing Center visit
4. Attend a breastfeeding class
5. Obtain your CPR certification
After the weekend workshop, you must also work with at least 4 families, offering at least 20 hours of care, and receive evaluations from each family in order to become certified.
Payment for the training is due in full three weeks prior to the training. Upon paying for the training, you will be given access to the online classroom through Birth Arts International where you will complete all training assignments. Upon completion, you will receive your Postpartum Doula Certification. Once you have completed your certification, you will be put on our employee list for future Postpartum Doula positions.
